During the OCT eye test, you will be asked to place your chin on a support and look at a small light inside the scanner. The machine captures detailed images of the back of your eye in a matter of seconds. Your optometrist will then review the results and explain clearly what the images show. This is a quick scan that uses light waves to create detailed cross-sectional images of your retina, macula and optic nerve.
